The farm is nestling beneath the tranquil Breidden Hills, where wildlife abounds, in the picturesque Severn valley.

The Local Area

Lane Farm is ideally situated to explore the Welsh Marches, Shropshire Hills, Mid-Wales, Shrewsbury, Chester, Oswestry and Welshpool.

We are 54 miles from Barmouth (a traditional sea side town) and 70 miles to Snowdon. With stunning scenic roads to the lakes, wild open spaces and breathtaking mountains.

The local area offers some wonderful trips, Shrewsbury being a medieval town with castle, gardens, excellent shopping and river walks. Ironbridge the home of the industrial revolution. Welshpool with the biggest sheep  livestock market in Europe held every Monday and Oswestry a traditional market town known as the gateway to Wales.

Railway enthusiasts are well catered for at Bala, Welshpool, Llanfair, Llangollen and perhaps the more well known Severn Valley Railway. The Royal Air Force Museum at Cosford is also within easy reach. We're in the perfect location for a visit to Pistyll Rhaedar, situated in the Berwyn Mountains, it boasts a stupendous waterfall higher than Niagara, or visit Llangollen, a historic town with its famous canal and aqueduct.

For nature lovers a visit to The Long Mynd and The Stiperstones Nature Reserve are truly breathtaking. For those feeling energetic a walk to the top of The Breiddens to Rodney’s Pillar will afford spectacular views of the Severn valley (on a clear day!) We are within easy reach of The Severn Way and Offa's dyke.

Local attractions include the monthly Hill Climb Motor racing at Loton Park from April ( Easter Weekend)  throught to September, The West Midlands Agricultural Show 23rd May, Llangollen Eisteddfod 7th-12th July, Oswestry food and drink festival 11th-12th July  The Royal Welsh Show 20th -23rd July, The Welshpool Country and Western weekend 17th, 18th &19th July,  Oswestry Show 1st  August, the famous Shrewsbury Flower Show 14th &15th August, Oswestry hot air ballon festival 29th-30th August  and Shropshire  Steam Rally 30th-31st August.  Welshpool's 1940's weekend 25th-26th September.   Something for everone.
